Which vaccinations are required at RockBug?
For grooming we require a current rabies vaccination and Bordetella (kennel cough) for any dog that regularly boards or attends daycare. Kennel cough can be transmitted easily in any environment where dogs congregate (Dog parks, daycare, kennels, groomers, vets, etc.). The vaccination is cheap and easily administered. Treating kennel cough, however, can be quite expensive. If you choose to not get this vaccination, please understand that it's at your own risk.
How do I make an appointment?
Booking online is the quickest and easiest way to make an appointment for grooming. You can also email us at Rockbuggrooming@gmail.com. You can call us at 607.215.0521. It's sometimes hard to reach us via phone as we're working with very loud equipment.
How long does grooming take?
Each appointment is different. It depends on the dog's personality, coat type and whether they're matted. We do our best to give you an estimate but sometimes it takes longer based on what your pup lets us do. We'll keep you posted though and call when they're all done!
Do you work with large breed dogs?
We love big dogs! The bigger the better. Mastiffs are some of my favorite dogs. Please don't hesitate to bring your big dog in to be groomed, they need spa days too!
Do you provide flea and tick preventative?
We don't provide preventative, however, we do offer flea and tick baths. We generally recommend these in an overall treatment plan for the household. Bath, house treatment and providing flea and tick preventative 48 hours after the bath. I also recommend that owners use flea and tick preventative year round. Don't administer any treatment within 48 hours of grooming.
What if I don't see my dog's breed listed?
If your kiddo is a mix, select the breed he/she most closely resembles. If you have a purebred that isn't listed, please let us know so we can add that breed to the list.
Do you groom cats?
No, we don't groom cats but we do clip their nails.
PAYMENT: We accept all major credit cards and cash. We do not accept checks. No-Shows and Cancellations: No shows, last minute cancellations (less than 24 hours notice) or continual rescheduling may result in a $25 fee or discontinuing service. We understand that there are emergencies and will work with you but not on a continued basis. Please be respectful of our time as we are a by-appointment-only business and another client could've been accommodated. We want to make sure everyone is taken care of! Late Pick-ups: Please be on time to pick up your pet. We work by appointment and don't have the staff or facilities for your pet to stay long after the groom has been completed. We always talk about pick up times when you check in and we can make sure we're all on the same page. If you're continually late picking up your pet without having made prior arrangements with us, a $20 fee may be added to your bill. Parasites: If your dog has fleas or ticks, we will do a flea bath at an added fee of $5 for small dogs and $10 for larger dogs. Please let us know if there are fleas present. If fleas are a continual problem (several visits in a row), we may ask that you eliminate the infestation before returning to us. We want to protect everyone! Sick/Unwell Dogs: If your dog is sick or feeling under the weather, please reschedule! No grooming service is worth your dog's health. If your dog is ill, we will ask you to reschedule. Additionally, if your dog has had surgery recently, please wait until they're fully recovered before having them groomed. Aggressive/Dangerous Dogs: All clients are required to disclose any bite history, aggression or behavioral issues. Muzzles may be used, if necessary. We reserve the right to refuse/stop service at any time and may charge a handling fee. Also, any bites that occur on our premises will be reported to the proper authorities. Difficult Dogs: Any dog that is unable to stand for the process or requires an extra person for handling will incur a handling fee for the extra time/work involved or be turned away. We're happy to advise owners on what can be done at home to help your pup get used to the process! Appointment time/Drop offs: We aren't able to take your pet more than 15 minutes before your appointment time. If you arrive early, you may be asked to wait until we are able to take your pet. Please be on time for your appointment. If you're more than 10 minutes late for your appt, you may be asked to reschedule. We run on a pretty tight schedule to make sure everyone is accommodated safely. Matted dogs: Matting needs to be disclosed at the time of booking (notes section is fine). I have to be sure we have enough time to accommodate your dog. If it is not disclosed we will have to reschedule you because matted coats take much longer to work on and we may not have enough time that day to accommodate your dog safely. Also, there are matting fees that are based on the severity of the matting. If your dog is matted, your appointment may take significantly longer because we have a fully booked schedule and have to be able to work on other customer's dogs. We'll do our best to give you an estimate and keep you posted on the time. If your dog comes in matted on a continual basis, we may refuse service. Matting and matting removal is very painful for dogs and we don't want your pet to be uncomfortable. It also detrimental to their health. Matting can lead to lots of skin/health complications. We encourage everyone to stay on a grooming schedule appropriate for your dog. We want them to look and feel their best! We're happy to help you determine a regular schedule. Lapsed customers: Any full service groom customer who hasn't been in within the last 12 weeks (3 months) is considered lapsed. Continued service will be decided on a case by case basis.
